Frequently Asked Questions How
much does a generator cost? What
kind of fuel does the generator run on? My question isn't here. Send us your question, or contact us by phone.
How much does a generator cost? There isn't a simple answer to this question. Small portable units without automatic switching start at around $2000. An automatic setup for a average home start at $6000
There are several factors that go into making this decision. Your home size, method of heating your home, type and size of appliances all come into play. The main factor is how much of an inconvenience, if any, you want to bear if your normal source of power goes out.
We would never tell you that you have to have an automatic switch. It comes down to personal preference. If you will be around your home if the power goes out, and if you have some mechanical ability, a manual switch may work fine for you. If you are away from your home for longer periods, or do not feel comfortable managing the generator, and circuit breakers, an automatic switch will protect you, your home, and the power company workers.

All Kohler Generators come with a warranty. Your warranty starts from the day it is first powered up on your site by a factory authorized service rep. If you buy a generator from other sources, kohler or otherwise, your warranty may have started the day your unit was manufactured. With large projects your warranty could be expired before you even have started the generator.
If you are simply looking at size printed on the box of the generator that may be true. Kohler generators are very complex, high quality machines. If you take even a quick look at the construction of one of those box store generators vs. one of ours, you can certainly tell the difference. If you want a good laugh, drive around the back of one of those big orange stores. You will see a Kohler generator supplying their standby power, not the brand they sell inside the store. That should tell you something. What kind of fuel does the generator run on? We offer generators that use a variety of fuels. The main fuels that generators use are Propane, Diesel Fuel or Natural Gas. We can tailor your generator package for whichever fuel is cost effective for the application. |
